Emir Talha BİÇERBLOG

Today, I would like to share a pleasant experience that lasted for a month. A sports project involving Italian and Turkish volunteers provided us with valuable gains. I would also like to thank the Sorgun Youth Association for providing us with these opportunities.

I believe that this project has helped me develop in many ways. These include practicing English, getting to know people from different cultures, engaging in confidence-boosting activities, gaining awareness in sports, and improving my social skills. Additionally, as volunteers from different cultures came together, we felt the excitement of this unity. Despite growing up with different languages and traditions, we bonded through sports. Although we faced communication challenges, the activities we participated in brought us closer together. Throughout this project, we remained open to learning from one another and gaining new experiences. We had the opportunity to travel to different cities together. We introduced Turkish culture, cuisine, and way of life to the Italian volunteers. In return, they introduced us to Italian sports culture, teaching us about their traditions and sports. Both groups efficiently carried out these sports activities.

We didn't limit ourselves to sports activities alone; we also served the local community as volunteers. We engaged in cleaning activities, organized sports events for children, conducted presentations to raise awareness, and had the chance to socialize with local residents. These experiences reminded us of the value of contributing to society and helping others. Moreover, witnessing how people can come together through sports to support one another and create positive change demonstrated the accomplishment of the project's goals.

Throughout this month-long process, strong bonds were formed between volunteers from different cultures. We developed friendships and collaborations as we progressed towards common goals. The cultural exchange between Italian and Turkish volunteers brought understanding and tolerance instead of prejudice. We learned to respect one another, embrace differences, and find common solutions.

This sports project has provided us with new friendships, memories, and unforgettable experiences. The interaction between Italian and Turkish volunteers deepened our cultural understanding and helped us forge global connections. Coming together as Italian and Turkish volunteers has once again allowed us to discover the power of sports and volunteerism.

I am extremely happy to have participated in this project where sports and cultural exchange converged.
